Happening Lately

I'm headed back east today and could not be more excited. One of my little sisters is graduating from high school and we'll be celebrating her big accomplishment this weekend! We'll also be making a trip to the Polar Seltzer Great Chowder Cook Off. This foodie and her chowder-loving husband can't wait!

I have a delicious dessert recipe coming your way tomorrow, but today I wanted to share a few updates from what's happening around here. From blog life to real life, it's been a busy few weeks... and it's only getting busier!

Brunch: Rachel from An Eventful Life and Samantha from Gold Coast Girl hosted a blogger brunch a few weekends ago and it was so cute. They paid attention to every detail-- right down to the menu and the personalized straws!

A birthday party: One of my favorite Chicago food blogs The Ghost Guest celebrated its 4th birthday recently. I was so happy to be at the Library Bar at the Public Hotel to toast Amanda's big accomplishment-- and to enjoy a little ghost-topped Sprinkles cupcake too!

A few dates with Kit from The Kittchen: The first, a double date with our husbands to check out Cone. It's an adorable Irish-themed ice cream shop (with a fab patio) in the West Loop.

Green City Market: I also joined Kit for my first visit of 2014 to the farmers market. We went early and took advantage of the pork and egg tacos at the Cookies & Carnitas stand.

A visit from my niece: My brother and his family came to Chicago for the weekend and I got to hang out with my favorite 2.5-year old. We visited Lincoln Park Zoo (the girl loves animals) and I did my best to turn her into a Chicago foodie by introducing her to Glazed & Infused. She loves sprinkles!

And last, but not least... we're moving! After years of preparation, Alex and I have bought our first home-- a condo on the north side of Chicago. We have lived in 3 apartments in Chicago, but they have all been downtown so this is a big and exciting change for us. It's in a cute neighborhood, it's a lot more space, and most importantly, it's our space. So, we have some fun plans for really making it our own and a place that we can settle down in for a while.

We close a week from tomorrow (eeeee!!!) and will be moving in for good at the end of the month. You can follow my moving adventures on Instagram with #ASquaredMoves!
