A Squared: About

About

Welcome to A Squared!

I started this blog in late 2011 because after more than a year of intense wedding planning I felt myself getting restless waiting for my next project. I'm a goal-oriented kind of girl and when the next big life steps still seem so far away, it's nice to have something to focus my creative energies on. It began as a way for me share updates on our married life with far away friends and family, but has evolved into so much more. Really, this blog is a reflection of me, my everyday life, and the things that I love-- my favorite things, recipes, memories, travels, and life in Chicago, with big focus on food.

Anne + Alex = A Squared

I love to cook. It's my therapy. I especially love to cook for other people: my husband, our friends, family, and I love to entertain. Cooking at home helps me stay organized, on a budget, healthy, and above all, creative. I'm constantly trying new recipes, amending old ones, and then sharing them here with you.

At the same time, I also love when people cook for me-- I like to share family recipes, new and old traditions, recaps of parties and events that we host or attend, and Chicago restaurant reviews too. Chicago is a foodie city and one of the big benefits of living here is being able to try new [and amazing] restaurants all the time.

And speaking of Chicago, one of my favorite things to do with Alex is to explore Chicago together. If you've ever been to Chicago you will understand why we love living here-- it's quite possibly one of the best cities in the U.S. If you've never been, you should visit immediately. The restaurants, the buildings, the street festivals, and the wonderful people are just a few of the things that we love so much about our amazing city! We have been here since 2008 and there is still so much ground left uncovered, which is really exciting. In the event that we ever have to leave the city [even if it's just for the suburbs], we want to cross every item off of our Chicago bucket list before then!

Thanks for stopping by for a little glimpse into my world!
