A Change of Pace

Hey there, loyal readers! No recipes to post today and no restaurant recaps to share... I wanted to get real with you for a minute.

I'm tired.

Yes, I know we are all tired but I'm feeling particularly so these days-- and most of it is my own doing. Admittedly, I like to be busy all the time. I'm not great at relaxing, going to bed on time, sleeping in (anymore), or doing 'nothing.' It's just not in my DNA. Lately though, I've spread myself too thin and I need to reel it in before I completely wear myself down. You feel?

Nothing bad is happening, so please don't worry! Life is getting busy, but in all good ways.

I'm taking on more responsibility at work. I'm more plugged in than I used to be and I'm traveling more. I've been out to various Chicago suburbs, San Diego Newport Beach, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Providence for work in the past year. And I have two separate work trips to Florida coming up before 2014 is over. The travel is fun, but a definite disruption to my daily schedule. And let's be honest, my day job pays my bills so it's up there on my priority list.

Our families and friends are all graduating, getting married, and having babies! There's nothing I love more than celebrating the big life moments of my favorite people. The downside? Our wonderful friends and family are spread out all over the country, so this usually means-- you guessed it-- a lot more travel. And it's really hard to get back to real life things like laundry and grocery shopping after a long weekend away-- let alone to a rigorous blogging schedule.

Last, but certainly not least, this guy is moving in with us this month! This is Clery, our new Golden Retriever puppy that we are so over the moon excited to finally bring home. He's no human baby, but I know that raising him-- at least in the beginning-- will involve a lot of late nights, early mornings, and long walks. He's going to occupy a lot of that free time that I typically devote to blogging.

Are you ready for me to finally make my point?

I'm scaling back. I try really hard to bring you all good content every weekday, but it's become increasingly harder for me to do that. And I don't want to post lame filler posts just to have something to share every day. So, instead of 5 weekday posts I am pulling back and will be giving you 4 really good ones instead. You'll always have a What's For Dinner Wednesday post on Wednesdays and at least for the rest of this year, Tuesdays will be reserved for Tastemaker Top 10 guest posts. Mondays and Thursdays will be chock full of restaurant reviews, travel and event recaps, product wishlists, and of course, more recipes! Like weekends currently, I won't be posting on Fridays unless I have something really good that I can't wait to share with you. And who knows? We may bounce back to 5+ posts per week in the future, but for now there are just too many other big things going on that can't be ignored. And something in my schedule has got to give.

I know that all of you readers have busy lives too and hope you understand. I want to continue making A Squared a fun and inspiring place for you to visit, but want to continue feeling inspired to write it and having fun along the way. Thanks for your support and for reading along for the past [almost] 3 years. I can't wait to share more with you!
