Pineapple Spiced Rum Punch with Captain Morgan 1671 Commemorative Blend

Do you know what makes packing and unpacking more tolerable?
A cocktail.

Do you know what makes a cocktail a really good cocktail?
Captain Morgan rum.

Now, you all know how I love my wine but sometimes on a hot summer night I just really like having a cocktail. And while Alex and I were in the middle of packing and prepping for our move late one recent night, it was great to lighten the mood a bit with a tropical drink. This Captain Morgan 1671 Commemorative Blend was the perfect base for my easy at home rum punch!

Captain Morgan 1671 Commemorative Blend is a limited edition offering from the rum experts over at Captain Morgan. The spices in this rum pack deep flavor like "chocolate and dark fruits with hints of vanilla." The rum is finished in Spanish Oak, further lending to its bold flavor.

The folks at Captain Morgan recommend drinking this full-bodied rum over ice on its own or combined with cola. I'm not a cola girl though, so I took it in a different direction and created this flavorful punch.

This rum punch has great spice notes from the rum and fresh fruit flavors (of pineapple, orange, and lime), but there is no refined sugar or simple syrup added here. This isn't your typical super sweet tropical cocktail and I think that's what makes it so special. Those deep spicy notes from the rum really pop against the fresh fruit flavors here. I pureed fresh pineapple (in lieu of using juice) which gives the punch a thick and almost smoothie-like texture.

These cocktails are super easy to make for a big group and would be great for a summer cocktail party. Or for a late night of packing boxes, of course!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple puree*
  • 1 1/2 cups Captain Morgan 1671 Commemorative Blend rum
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • Lime rounds and pineapple wedges, for garnish

*Pulse fresh pineapple chunks in a food processor until completely smooth and 1 1/2 cups of puree is yielded.

In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients and stir well with a long-handled spoon. Chill until ready to serve, stirring again just before you pour.

Fill glasses with ice and pour punch over the top. Garnish with lime rounds and pineapple wedges and serve.

  1. I have used many hangover supplements and I have an overall idea about those. I have recently used drinkwel hangover vitamins. But it did not work on me. So I had to switch it with other supplements. Currently, I am using Detoxicated and it works just fine.
