Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend, despite losing an hour of your lives to Daylight Savings Time yesterday. Truthfully, I'm not too sad about it. I love leaving the office while it's still light out. It makes me feel like there's still so much more time in my day!
We had a really nice weekend and it was the first in a long time where we ate our way through Chicago. After a Friday night at home drinking wine and watching House of Cards, Alex and I took full advantage of the sunshine and more tolerable temperatures on Saturday for a long walk through the city.
Alex had a craving for lobster rolls and I happened to have a Groupon, so we stopped by Da Lobsta-- one of his favorite spots in the city-- for a quick lunch. How cute is their illustrated anatomy of the lobster roll? It never ceases to amaze me that we can get a delicious and authentic lobster roll here in the Midwest, but this place does it well!
While in the Gold Coast, we also stopped into Sprinkles cupcake shop for a little sugar fix. We went home with a half dozen of their St. Patrick's Day cupcakes*, which Alex has since decided to horde for his own enjoyment. For the next week or so, you can stop by your local Sprinkles for an
Irish Chocolate cupcake (those are the ones with the shamrock candies on
top): they consist of a rich Belgian chocolate cupcake topped with
Bailey's Irish Cream cream cheese frosting.
Alex also spent a good amount of time examining the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM,
available to you any day and any time that you need a cupcake fix.
And next Monday, March 17 only, Sprinkles will be serving up their special St. Patrick's Day green velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. We were so excited to get a sneak peek of these-- and they are REALLY good! We are red velvet 'experts' in this house and these cupcakes did not disappoint!
And on Saturday night we finally made it over to The Dawson for dinner! Tons of bloggers have already been singing its praises for the past few months and it is right in our neighborhood, so shame on us for not trying it sooner! Be on the lookout for a follow up post about all of the delicious dishes we tried soon.
Earlier in the week I ventured up to the Southport Corridor neighborhood for the Spring Sipping event at David's Tea.
Did I also mention that in addition to sampling all of their delicious teas, David's Tea also brought in dinner from my favorite Chicago taco joint Taco Joint? It was so fun to mingle with the other bloggers, learn about the different flavors from the experts at David's Tea, and snack on mini tacos.
They were gracious enough to send us all home with this sampler of the Spring Collection*-- how gorgeous is that packaging?! I've been enjoying a cup of David's Tea at the office for the past few days and it has been lovely.
*Products were provided by David's Tea and Sprinkles at no cost. The opinions expressed here-- as always-- are all my own.
Mmm... what a good week! :)
