This weekend was mostly relaxed and low key with one really fun night out celebrating my best friend's birthday-- exactly what I needed after an exceptionally long work week(s).
I'm happy to report that Lillie's Q is finally open in the Chicago French Market! Alex and I stopped by for a not-so-light lunch on Saturday in the middle of some errand running. What a fun addition to the French Market! Since they only have a little stall there, they actually cook the food up at their Wicker Park restaurant and shuttle it down to this location. We both ordered pulled pork sandwiches and also tried their homemade BBQ chips-- the only menu item that is authentic to the French Market location. Delicious!
On Saturday night we ventured north to celebrate my very best friend Alexis's birthday at a little BYOB Mexican restaurant called La Ciudad in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Fun fact: I am wearing almost exactly the same outfit that I wore to celebrate her birthday last year. Good work, Anne.

I had some veggie enchiladas with salsa verde for dinner-- a much needed lighter meal after my gluttonous Vegas diet.
The enchiladas were good, but the highlight of dinner was definitely the fried ice cream. So muc for that lighter dinner! It was well worth it though.
I give the addition of rainbow birthday sprinkles high marks too.
After dinner Alexis was determined to celebrate at a divey neighborhood bar, so we ended up at Avenue Tavern in Lakeview. Mission: accomplished.

Did I mention that I brought some of my favorite Vanille Patisserie French macarons for the birthday girl? They definitely made an appearance at the bar around midnight.
Sunday was a lazy day. We spent most of it catching up on Downton Abbey (I am officially addicted), doing laundry, and napping. It was amazing. I also made a fabulous (if I do say so myself) brunch for the two of us and I will be sharing that recipe with you later this week!
